This presentation explores the development and design principles behind 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗩𝗥, a virtual reality application created to enhance 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 through interactive gameplay. It investigates the core features of the experience, including 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀, a 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿, and 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝘂𝘇𝘇𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 that encourages logical thinking and spatial reasoning.
A key focus of the analysis is on 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻-𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗛𝗖𝗜), highlighting design decisions such as 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘀 for intuitive navigation and an interface guided by 𝗡𝗶𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 and 𝗦𝗵𝗻𝗲𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻’𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀. These usability principles ensure that the experience remains accessible, engaging, and effective for users.
Supporting its educational goals, the project draws on research into the cognitive benefits of 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗩𝗥 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, positioning 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗩𝗥 as a compelling case study in the use of emerging technology for mathematics education. This presentation serves as an academic examination of how virtual reality can be meaningfully applied to support deeper, more interactive learning.
